OF ST FRANCIS INC
THE STORY BEHIND THE NOTES
Check out our story, the passion behind our music, and the purpose that drives our choir. Join us as we come together to worship, connect, and create beautiful music in service to our faith. Together, we aim to share the message of hope and love through every song we sing.

“I thank everyone for their self-giving to the Church and to the choir. Let’s continue our good work especially as we face many challenges… trusting that God is always with us, and with the intercession and prayer of our Blessed Mother, we may bring the Good News and share God’s Love to others. God Bless us all!”
~ Rev Fr Alfred Yap

WHO WE ARE
Founded in March 1992 and officially registered in September 2018, the Filipino Choir of St Francis Incorporated a.k.a. The Kiko Choir is a dedicated group of Filipino volunteers committed to serving the Filipino Mass at St Francis’ Church, Melbourne’s oldest Catholic church. Our beginnings coincided with the formation of the Filipino Mass at St Francis in February 1992 with Rev Fr Ed Wood and several Filipino community members, some of whom still serve to this day. Over the years, we have built a strong and vibrant community, supporting not only our Filipino congregation but also actively participating in various community events to share and enrich our heritage and culture. Our members come from diverse backgrounds from all around Melbourne.
Our volunteers work together under the guidance of our spiritual leader, Rev Fr Alfred Yap, SSS, and our musical director, Lori Deomano, to ensure that the Filipino Mass at St Francis’ Church remains a safe and inclusive gathering for Filipinos in Australia, as well as their families, and friends. We lead the congregation’s singing of various songs from the Philippines and around the world.

OUR MISSION AND PURPOSE
The Kiko Choir is committed to serving the Filipino Mass at St Francis’ Church, contributing to the liturgical life of the Blessed Sacrament Congregation, and engaging with the broader community. We aim to uplift through song, celebrate our Filipino heritage, and create a welcoming environment for all who come to pray with us.
The purposes of our association are:
- To lead the congregation at St Francis’ Church during the Filipino Mass
- To provide appropriate music to cultural and religious events
- To undertake and participate in activities for the promotion of the Filipino culture and the preservation of the Filipino heritage
- To support community services and humanitarian activities that are consistent with the association’s charitable purpose
- To provide formation programs and training workshops to members
